The Ulster Championship heads to Mountain Quarter this weekend and there’s going to be some of the top British Championship riders making the trip – which is fantastic to see.
Josh Gilbert has experience racing MXGP and even raced some AMA Nationals in the past so it’ll be great to see him in action – especially for the fans that don’t travel outside the country that often.
We caught up with the top British talents who will be making the trip over to the event.
Josh Gilbert:
I’m looking forward to racing the Ulster championship and the Tommy Stewart memorial race this weekend. It’s nice to do something a bit different and I haven’t raced over in Ireland for a good few years. It should be a good day so I hope to see a lot of support for the race!
Taylor Hammal:
I was reached out to do the Ulster round coming up this weekend and thought it was a good opportunity to try something new. All seems really good and proper from the chats I’ve had booking it all so I am really looking forward to it. I get to ride a new track which is nice to mix it up from the same old stuff each year.
Chris Mills:
I have always liked coming to Ireland. I’ve never done an Ulster championship so I’m looking forward to giving it a go – it’ll be something different for me. From what I can see there has been a lot of work and effort that has been put into Mountain Quarter. I’m excited to get behind the gate this Saturday and race against some different competition.
Josh Vail:
I am looking forward to racing the Ulster championship round this weekend. I’ve not been to Ireland since the 85cc small wheel back in 2019. The track looks good and it will be fun to do something out my comfort zone as well as gaining experience alongside a strong Irish and British line up. Thanks to Mark and Phoenix Fantic racing team for the opportunity.
Carlton Husband:
Mark Galloway got in touch with Barry from the team and passed my number over. He rang me and straight away I was excited to get over to do it. There are some unreal tracks over in Ireland and it’s a shame that the British Championship doesn’t go there anymore. I am looking forward to riding a new track against some new competition who are always fast on home soil.
